Whispering Oaks

Rochester, MN

Whispering Oaks is a Mixed-Use Development consisting of Commercial, Townhomes and Single Family Residential.  Located on the NW side of Rochester, the community was immediately defined by the beautiful rod iron entry archway.

The project posed many challenges regarding steep terrain and the fact that it was an in-fill project with large visibility and public interest.  These challenges were used to design a unique community that was highly landscaped with an emphasis on preserving existing high quality trees on the steep terrain.

MBI provided services from project inception through construction that included:  

• Planning
• Feasibility study
• Rezoning
• General Development Plan
• Commercial and Townhome Site Plans

 

• Surveying – topographic, boundary, preliminary and final platting

 

• Civil Engineering – grading plans and construction plans and specifications

 

• Landscape Architecture
  • Landscape plans for commercial and townhomes
  • Design of entrance gates, pump house and lighting.

The community is considered a successful example of an urban mixed-use development that not only protected, but embraced the natural landscape and gave a voice to the community.
