City of Fountain

McGhie & Betts has served as Fountain’s City Engineer since 1958, also providing other services such as planning, survey, and construction inspection to the City on an as needed basis.

In 1987, a complete sewer collection system including two lift stations and a community drainfield were constructed to meet the community's needs.  Ongoing projects include watermain upgrades and various storm sewer and street reconstruction and maintenance projects. As shown in the images below, the City's infrastructure was reaching the end of its useful life in the early 2000's and requested MBI to research ways to upgrade facilities.

In 2009, MBI designed and permitted a $1.5 million dollar waste water treatment plant.  As the City Engineer, MBI provided the feasibility analysis, cost estimates, and was instrumental in securing PFA funding for this project.  We are proud to state that the facility has the most restrictive discharge standards in the State of Minnesota. In addition to serving as the Engineer for the project, MBI provided surveying, construction inspection, and materials testing for the project.
